Air requirements, in plain English

The most common pre-purchase question about AmeriVacS nozzle sealers is the air supply. Here’s the whole answer, including the option that skips the compressor entirely.

What the AVN, AVS, and AVP need

The pneumatically driven models (AVN, AVS, AVP) run on external compressed air at roughly 5 CFM at 90 PSI. In practical terms: a common shop compressor with at least a 15-gallon tank and 90 PSI capacity is sufficient. If your facility already has plumbed shop air, you only need a drop near the sealing station.

The air drives the jaw cylinders and (on vacuum models) powers the venturi vacuum system — it never touches your product or the inside of your bags.

No shop air? Two ways to go

Option one: add a small shop compressor alongside an AVN or AVS. Workable, but you’re buying, placing, and maintaining a second machine.

Option two: buy the self-contained version. The CAVN (gas purge) and CAVS (vacuum only) build an internal compressor into the cabinet — one power cord and you’re sealing. This is the right answer for labs, retail back rooms, mobile stations, and anywhere a shop compressor is unwelcome.

Gas purge is a separate hookup

On gas-purge models (AVN, CAVN, AVCG) the inert gas — typically nitrogen — comes from your own bottle through a regulator. Gas flush displaces oxygen and moisture in the package before the seal fires; it’s independent of the compressed-air supply that drives the machine.
